Vehicle History Reports - What can they tell?

A good, detailed Vehicle History Report based on VIN number lookup can - and should - tell you things like:

•    Title problems
•    Number of owners
•    Junk cars (including cash-for-clunkers)
•    Insurance information
•    Taxi, Fleet or Rental cars
•    Multiple brands (salvaged and flooded cars etc.)
•    Odometer roll back (miles)
•    Vehicles reported stolen in Mexico

Armed with such a history report, you can make an informed purchase decision when buying a used car, so that you don't end up paying for a lemon or other type of problem vehicle.

While I've been lucky not to get stuck with a bad-egg car before I started getting a VIN report prior to each purchase, I know several people who have suffered and if you're like me, I guess you know a few yourself.
